Rutherford County, Tennessee has a population of over 218,292. The county is 624 square miles. According to statistics there are 47,440 families in the county. It is predominantly white at 85.73% and 9.51% black. Then the rest of the population are mainly Native American.

It was named after Griffith Rutherford who was a political leader in North Carolina and an important man in the early history of Tennessee. He was born 1721 and passed 1805. He was a colonial legislator in the Revolutionary War. Not too long after wards he became President of the Council of the Territory of Tennessee. This was all before the state of Tennessee became a state.

Rutherford County schools even offer schooling for adults. In total there are about 36,500 people enrolled. They have about forty one schools not to mention an adult education center.

Right now they are ranked the sixth largest school system in Tennessee. Their budget currently sits at $220 million and that is $6,485 per pupil.

The school system is adding about 1,500-2,000 students annually. With that said, they have to build one to two new schools every year. The predict that there will be a total cost of $500 million in costs to build these schools. There are a total of 3,500 people that are employed by the Rutherford County School system.

Murfreesboro Tennessee

It is one of the fastest growing cities in the country with 23,000 people in just 10 years. It is also home to Middle Tennessee State University. Not to mention, it has the largest undergraduate university in the state of Tennessee. That population being 22,554.

The town's average family income was about $52,654. Most of the residents are financially stable. Most of the residents are considered to be college graduates. About fifty two percent of the residents in the city are lived in by the owners. Most of the houses are newer then they are in most other cities.

Smyrna Tennessee
